About the program - Lieutenant Shelly L. Carter of the City of Hartford Fire Department, in partnership with Rocky Hill Volunteer Fire Department, presents an interactive camp that exposes young ladies to a career in public safety. The camp includes training in many areas of the fire department, which are Emergency Medical Services, Fire Prevention and Risk Reduction, Fire Investigation, and Personnel Support. Participants are introduced to “the day in the life of a firefighter”. They will don and doff personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus. They will have icebreaker team building exercises. 

Listed bellow are a few examples of training sessions that we offer.

Fire apparatus familiarization, physical fitness, firehouse prepared meal, CPR certification, fire prevention education, use of fire extinguisher, fire investigation skills, emergency dispatch and report writing.
