FEMA has announced that the FY 2017 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) application period will open on Monday, March 26, 2018, at 8 am ET and will close on Friday, April 27, 2018, at 5 PM ET. These grants can be used to recruit and retain volunteer firefighters or to hire paid firefighters.

Start planning your FY 2017 SAFER Grant application now by reviewing the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) and Economic Hardship Waivers Information Bulletin (IB). Technical assistance tools to help applicants begin to plan their applications will be released soon on the SAFER web site.
