Training News: Working Fire Training

“Working Fire Training” (WFT) videos and training DVDs are now available to the MCVFA membership and member departments, the MCVFA Training Committee announced on June 5, 2010.

For twelve months, starting June 2010 and continuing through May 2011, WFT will supply MCVFA five subscriptions to the monthly WFT video service. The DVD subscriptions will be shipped to the five regional vice presidents of MCVFA to distribute to their region departments on a lending library basis. All of the videos will be the property of the MCVFA and be made available to member departments throughout the year. It will be up to each region how to share the video training, using it at region meetings, lending to member departments, setting up regional training meetings, or whatever methods the region decides. It will take a few months to get this running effectively and efficiently, and it is hoped that the regions will share their experiences with the organization and procedures they use for the WFT training. Please contact your regional vice president for access to the DVD's.

In addition the MCVFA Training Committee has arranged with WFT to offer unlimited use of the WFT Online Delivery Training Program for six months starting in June 2010. This will be set up through the MCVFA web site and will incorporate a  private user name and password available only to active MCVFA membership. Please contact your regional vice presidents for access. This exclusive use by MCVFA members will allow access to two years of WFT training video records on a trial basis. If this is successful and the use is measured worthwhile, the MCVFA Training Committee will budget to continue the service. We stress that this is a new venture for the MCVFA and puts the MCVFA in a leadership role in firefighter training and safety in Massachusetts, if  not in the country. It is hoped that our leadership role in providing the WFT educational materials to our membership will represent an example to other organizations in our state, region and across the country. It is an extremely important benefit that we are able to offer our members this year.

Throughout 2010 the MCVFA Training Committee will monitor the WFT training video use and the online training. We will adjust subscription delivery and procedures as months pass to achieve the best results and training for our members. We will announce the procedures for the online WFT services as soon as we have the service set to go. Our communications for username and password availability will be through the region vice presidents, who will control the information getting to the members of their region.
